Lloyd's outfit is a crucial part of his personality. When I first saw his character design I thought that he was some sort of officer or something. (In anime art, I always find that the character's ages are never acurately portrayed.) His clothing is unlike what any of the other teens his age wear in Iselia and he looks constantly equipped for battle.
Lloyd's outfit is two pieces: A red top and blue pants that are held up by brown suspenders. The red is a color that usually sparks anger or viciousness and the silver bullets with the cross flaps on the chest remind me of a naval uniform. Perhaps this is an homage to how Lloyd's character is hard-working and is willing to fight for his morals?
On his left hand is a keycrest that holds the special Exsphere of his deceased mother. Now all this talk of exspheres and if you haven't played the game you're probably wondering what they are. Exspheres are created by Cruxis in order to begin the "Age of Lifeless Beings". They are made from other people's souls and then used to enhance physical and magical attributes of the wearer. Lloyd's exsphere was part of the Angellus Project that was going to be presented to Yggdrasil eventually but was given to Lloyd instead. His exsphere actually evolves which is what makes it unique. Having an exsphere without a properly formated Keycrest can poison the individual and rot the body.
Lloyd has a typical anime crossbelt, or does he? Lloyd's belt is made two hold two swords and this is what makes him a unique character to play in the game. He fights with a double-handed technique. He's fast and cunning in battle.
His feet are covered in red boots that makes me think that perhaps this was Dwarven design(?). Most of the other characters in Iselia, or the rest of the game, may have similar boots but not that of these designs. Lloyd's costume is surprisingly unique but also sort of over-the-top for a school kid in a small town. But that fits his personality since it seems that he enjoys standing out of the crowd from time to time, he does it so well.
