How did this get started?
One day, Ace from the popular webcomic Ace of Abra noticed that a lot of Pokemon webcomics started to spring up all of the sudden. Of course there had always been tons of sprite comics, he wanted to get together all the artists who had Hand-drawn pokemon webcomics. Ace had wanted to get in touch with me to get this together, until one day I was inspired and basically asked if I could put the website together.
What DPCA stands for
The "Drawn Pokemon Comic Alliance" is a webring solely for artists who have webcomics based on the Pokemon franchise. The comics are done either traditionally or digitally without the use of sprites.
Why no sprites?
We have found that there is a surplus of webcomics that are based off of video games that feature sprites characters, so much in fact, that they seem to dominate the fancomic genre. Sprite comics usually focus on humor/parody aspects of a webcomic while a drawn comic can be flexible and leave room for many different genres. We want to bring together the artists who work to draw fancomics with diverse genres and storylines.
I have a Pokemon Webcomic, I want to join!
